Make your own Pizza Dough!

lovely doughThis quick and simple recipe for making your own pizza dough will help you get your pizza oven cooking in no time!

Mix 2 teaspoons of strong white flour in a large bowl with 3 tablespoons of lukewarm water . Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of dried yeast over the top and stir to dissolve.

Leave in a warm spot to activate . Put 600g of plain flour ,the yeast mix 2 teaspoons of salt, 300ml of water and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large bowl and mix. ( or in your bread maker , using the required time )

Mix to form a dough, turn out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.

Put the dough back into the bowl ,smearing the bowl first with a film of olive oil to prevent it drying out. Cover with a tea towel and leave in a warm place for about two hours or until it has doubled in size.

Knock back the dough by punching your fist into the middle of it. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and divide into four or six portions.

Make Your Own Pizza DoughDust with a little flour and roll into small balls. Put the balls onto a tray or board dusted with flour and cover again with a tea towel. Leave to rest for between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

Heavily dust the work surface with flour to prevent the dough sticking, then flatten each ball into a circle with the palm of your hand , roll out using a rolling pin to make a thin crust about 2mm thick leaving a small ridge around the edge.

Using a spoon or ladle apply a little tomato sauce, mozzarella and your choice of toppings, drizzle a little olive oil over the pizza, using a little semolina on your pizza peel gently slide your pizza on to it and you are ready to cook your home made pizza in your authentic wood- fired pizza oven.

Cook, 90 seconds to 2 minutes turning once.
